LAST NIGHT IN GERMANY

Here I am at the Spangdahlem Base in Germany sitting in the temperary housing. It is our last night here in Germany. Tomorrow morning at 4:45 AM we have to catch a shuttle bus to the Ramstein Air Base. Our flight should leave around 10. We are flying in a 747, a really big plane! It does not seem like we are leaving, it does not seem real. Today at church while saying goodbye to everyone it seemed like a movie, like it wasn't us... It was really wierd. I did not cry or anything, until it was time for us to leave. I got to give my friend Tracey Oliver a hug one last time and I just bawled my eyes out! We also had dinner this evening with the Brimhalls. They live in a condo just a building down from us. Dinner was great and it was really nice to sit back and talk and have a good time.
It is a few minutes past midnight right now and I still have to finish packing everything up for tomorrow. But I have everything in the front room here and it should be pretty easy to get done. A part of me just cannot believe that we are leaving tomorrow... I have several little toys picked out along with a few little books for Andrew and I am grouping them up in quart size zip lock bags. So I can just grab it out of the bag to let him play with it. And then put it back in the bag and get a different one, so he doesn't get too bored with the SAME TOYS the whole 10 hours or so. And another thing that might be a life savor is the Magni-Doodle Board that we got for him at the BX a few weeks ago. He just loves to draw/write so this way he can while we are on the flight and I won't have to worry about him drawing/writing all over everything.
A hard thing about moving every couple of years is that you make good friends and then just have to move and start all over again. One person that I really am going to miss is Jessica Lymann. We have not really gotten the chance to hang out and think that we really have alot in common. We both really wish that we had more time here and could live alot closer to each other.
One day Drew and I would like to try and come back here sometime. It will of corse be many years from now. But I am going to go right now while Andrew is still asleep and try and get all of this packing done. :D

Our Final Days In Germany

(Just a little note) This entry is probably not going to be typed in one sitting, I barely can think things thru right now. So I will post little by little.

Today is the 7th of November, 2011... And that means that we will be in the States in 14 days. It is a bitter-sweet moment. I mean it will be exciting to go and see our parents again and all, but we are going to miss the simplicity of life here. Ahhh, I am going to miss the friends that we have made here! It is so sad because I have made the closest friends during the end of our time here.

So The Count Down Begins

So we MOVE OUT of the apartment on the Bitburg Base on the 18th and move into TLF on the Spangdahlem Base. On the 21st at 10 AM we leave for the States. Tomorrow, November 2nd, some people are coming over to tell me what all NEEDS to be done for when we leave the apartment. I have been trying to get things organized so it won't look so hectic around here when they come. :D
I found out that the church over in Minot is pretty big, like two wards split between the base!
There has been alot weighing down on my heart and mind lately. I just do not understand how people can act in such ways. And there is nothing you can say to them because they are just going to blow up at you and turn it on you. I am just so worried about how things are going to go.

Reaching The End

With only seven weeks left to live here in Europe, we have planned to go on one more trip. Drew was just able to find a really good deal on tickets that he just couldn't refuse. So we will be able to spend two nights and three days in Dublin, Ireland! I am so excited that we will be able to go. It is like one of those places that I've wanted to go since being here but didn't really know how possible it'd be.

We still have no idea on where we are going next. Drew feels that they are leaning towards (again) giving him Minot, ND for the next base. Now it has changed on how we will go thru with it, if Minot is the base. They don't even have room to house singles hardly and the group he will work with says that they don't even need him there. So if Minot is for him then this is how we will go about it. Of corse when we get to the States we are going to visit family for a few weeks.. Then Drew will head out to ND and Andrew and I will be staying with his mom. Just because there will be no where for Andrew and I to stay. Then maybe 6 months from then, or when it gets warmer there, Andrew and I will be able to go and join him there. But only if the housing situation is any better. Right now they just do not have to room for anyone.

We've talked and we have made this decission as a family. But after our 6 yrs in the Air Force is up we are getting out. And it is a scarey thing to even think about with how bad jobs are out there right now. But when we joined we were originally only going to do a few years anyway, just for the experience I guess. But this road that we have traveled down has been an amazing one and I would not change one single thing about it! We have met some of the best people and we have seen some of the places that people only dream of being able to see in their lifetime. I mean when you think about it, some people save up their whole life just to go to one of these places that we have been so blessed to go and see.

So with leaving the military in mind, I have been thinking about different things I could do to help out on saving and making money. After alot of thought and searching I have come up with a pretty good list of different things that I could look into doing while still being a stay at home mom.

Bad Editing... :D

Andrew has fallen asleep on his own like 3 days in a row for nap time! Now if I could just get him to do this for bed. haha. I will start on that when we move. But so far he sleeps in his own room now. And he will go to his room when he is ready for bed. This is a BIG change from where he was a month ago.
Yesterday during the evening prayer that we had, I could hear Andrew getting into something... Well when the prayer was over I had noticed the "beautiful" master piece in which he drew all over my living room, hallway, and kitchen walls in a broken red crayon. Obviously he had been working on this throughout the evening without me knowing. Well today I googled how to clean crayon drawings off of the walls and found it under a yahoo answers page. There was stuff listed like, "Mr. Clean Magic Eraser" (but I didn't want to have to go out and spend money that we don't have..) "baking soda and vinager".... But I saw one that said "babywipes" Seriously, could something that simple work?? Well, I gave it a try. And it came off soo easily! I could not believe it!! So I got busy and had all of the walls and cabinets cleaned in like 30 minutes. It was such a blessing! :)
I have just been having a hard time the past couple of days. Like today I feel like if I could have just a good cry that it'd help out, but I can't cry.. Oh well. I'm just really stressed with the move which is in November. They will come and pack our stuff up sometime in October I think. We have had the weirdest stuff happen to us since the first told us where we were going. First we were told that we were going to Minot, ND. Then a couple of weeks later they told us we got devirted. (Meaning not going there anymore) So we wait three weeks and Drew going into the office to check on it. They told him we are getting Minot. And he explained that we just got devirted from there. And they said we understand but thats what they gave you. So the people said they would call the people in Texas who make these arrangements for everyone. So we got devirted twice from Minot, ND! Now we are just waiting to find out where in the heck we will be going. I mean, we'd be fine with Minot and all but Drew will have to live in a dorm until we are able to get into housing, which has a 12 month waiting list. And it'd be fine and all but there is no where for Andrew and I, oh and our dog, to stay until we are able to join him in Minot. Both of our parents are already housing family and there is no room for us there, we can't rent a place not knowing how long we will need it for.... BLAH! Thats just how I feel. But like everything else, Drew and I will make it through this together as a family.

Update On Next Station Area

Well as I posted before we were supposed to be going to Minot in November, but we have been diverted. Apparently they do not want anymore families due to the housing situation. So now we are just waiting, like in the beginning. It has started all over again. And we heard that we could be going anywhere overseas or in the States, just waiting on an answer. That was about a week ago when we got diverted and they told us we should know where we will be going within a couple of days... well it has been a couple of days and still no answer. Any guesses? haha. I will just go out there and pick a random place... How about Moody AFB. We'll see.
This evening we are going to the movies as a family and seeing Cars 2. And then Saturday morning we will be leaving and heading out to Switzerland. This a chance that we may not get again. We are going to see another area in my husband's mission that he served before we met. And it will be Andrew's first time in Switzerland. Then on the way home we are stopping by his sister's base and seeing them. And from there we will go to Wharton Barracks in Heilbronn Germany. We will go there to take pictures for my Dad. He served in the army there from 67-70. And from there we will be returning home.
Yesterday we went to a kids' program that they had on the Spangdahlem Base. It was Sesame Street Live the show was brought to us by the USO. It was pretty awesome! Andrew really enjoyed it alot.

Bubba

So I was just telling Andrew he'd get to see his cousin soon. And I asked if he could say "Coby" and well he did his normal muttering... Then I asked, "Can you say Bubba?" And he says, "Bu-bba"
We are leaving either Friday or Saturday to go down to Switzerland to see another part of Drew's mission area and on the way back up we are going to stop and see his sister and her family. They are stationed at an army base in Germany called Grafenwoehr. So this will more than likely be the last time that we will get to go down and see them while we are still in Germany. And don't really know about when or where we will get to see them again.

Early Weekend

Today is the last day of summer before school starts again so they gave the guys the day off. Yesterday was Diversity Day at the Spangdahlem Base and we went to that. So all that alot of the military members were assigned to do yesterday was to at least attend that then have the rest of the day to themselves. So we got home yesterday around two and spent the day cleaning, watching movies, and trying to decide what to make for dinner... Drew took a nap and I really wished that I could have too! It was really hard to keep myself awake come evening time, seeing that the night before I only got like 2 hrs of sleep.
I have been reading this book that a friend let me borrow called, "Good Night, Sleep Tight." It has step by step how to directions of how to get your baby to sleep on thier own, and thru the night. It has different plans of how to do it according to thier age. I personally am not going to try it until we get to the States, then that way we are not in apartments bothering neighbors. Andrew is not just a cryer, but a screamer too! And the book tells you to keep a journal on how and when they takes naps, eat and go to bed. And I did that for like one day, hehe. The reason being is because the next day he was just in such a good mood all day and never took a nap! But he went to bed early and stayed asleep the whole night! So what have I been doing since then? Thats right! He has been doing so good without a nap that I have just been going this week without them to see how it is. And let me tell you! The full night worth of sleep is good for me and him! He will wake like at 6 when his Daddy leaves for work and he will nurse and then go back to sleep. So he went from nursing what seemed like 50 times a night to nursing him to go to sleep and then just once more throughout the night.
Yes he sleeps in our room. We have our queen size bed and then our full size bed next to it. And he sleeps on the full. Weird I know, but someone gave us the queen and we are keeping the full for a guest bed but we only live in a two bedroom apartment. (I am SOOO EXCITED to get in a house when we move to Minot!!!) It will be a long process before we get into a house there but it will be worth it in the end.
We will be moved to Temp Housing on the Spangdahlem Base towards the end of October. In mid November we will fly a commercial plane to Atlanta and then Andrew and I will call North Carolina home for a few months. The reason being is, they are shipping our car to Atlanta and why I do not know... It will be the middle of the winter and we will not be able to drive it up to North Dakota until Spring. And we are more than likely going to be on a LONG waiting list for on base housing. So we figured instead of ALL of us being cooped in a hotel room for several months we decided that it's be best to just stay in NC and Drew be the only one. So Andrew Spanky and I will be staying with Drew's Mom. Which will be great because his family has only been able to spend one week with him throughout Andrew's whole 18 months!
Well I better get off of here. I am about to babysit for a family who Dad is about to deploy. I thought it'd be nice to give the Mom and Dad a whole day alone before he leaves.

DATE NIGHT!!!

Okay so, I know it is the middle of the week and all but my husband and I are going on a date!! This in fact will be our FIRST date since Andrew was born! (Well alone date) No dog, No Andrew, just me and my husband!!! We are just going to keep it simple and go to dinner and run by the library. But SOOO exciting for someone who like NEVER gets adult alone time! haha.
On September 4th, 2011 Andrew is going to be 18 months!!! And the COOL thing about it is... he can now attend nursery at church!! I have taken him the past couple of Sundays, when him and I are able to go, and he has done pretty well with it. The last time he went I sat in there with him for an hour and he seemed to be doing well so I left during the last hour. Well he made it all the way up until the last 10-15 minutes of church. There wasn't much I could do to entertain him until his Daddy was done with class so I just joined him in nursery and we hung out in there for a few minutes.
Last week Andrew's halloween costume came in the mail. It was a super fast delivery too. We got it like 5 days after we ordered it, which is really good considering that we are overseas and it is going to an APO box.
Well I have to get going. I have to finish going thru some clothes and boxing up the ones that we are going to donate to people in Hungary. Til next time. :D

A Healthier Family

We are trying as a family to make small healthy improvements to our life to try and get back into shape. Yesterday evening we walked around 3/4 of the base as a family, well Andrew of corse was in the stroller. But we ended the walk at the playground in front of our building and Andrew got to play for like an hour. I also brought the chain and chained Spanky to a tree right outside of the playground.

I brought his Monkey and Blanket with us. He does not really care for either of them. haha. But just to have something to play with and just incase in got a little bit colder out then he could cover up. But he did end up playing with the Monkey. He took him down the slide a couple of times.

One of his favorite things to do on the playground is to talk on the phone. He picks it up and says, "Ello?" (hello)

Another thing that he loves doing is drive! He makes a noise when he is steering (brrrrrm, brrrrm) Like kids usually do when pretending to drive. :) And the cool thing is, it even has a windshield! He stands up big and tall and looks out, pretending to drive like his Daddy. (The windshield is a little scratched up and messy)

(I LOVE THAT SMILEY FACE!!!)

Andrew has this BIG fascination (sp?) with ROCKS! Well with anything on the ground for that matter, haha.

(I LOVE THIS PICTURE!!)

Here are a few other play pictures...

And then we ended the night with, his favorite! A nice warm bubble bath to play and get cleaned up in.

Got Our Next Station Area!!! (finally!)

So Drew called this morning around 8, luckily I was awake. :P But We FINALLY found out where we will be stationed next!!! We knew it was going to be one of these three... Keesler, MS... Grand Forks, ND... or Minot, MD... AND... We got the news that we will be going to Minot, ND!!
I mean, I know it is like REALLY COLD in the winter and all... but it will be an adventure. We'll get to go and see so many places (in the States and in Canada) that we have never seen before! We are already planning camping trips and nice weekend trips.
So far the only people that know in the States about where we are going... is Drew's Mom. Well I video chatted with his sister and told her also, but she is in Germany also.
In the mean time... we are going to start stocking up on gloves, hats, and scarves! haha. But we are looking forward to it.

Gotta Get Back To This.

Okay so I have not posted a blog in FOREVER!!! And I do feel really bad about it too, honestly... I do! Soooo much has happened!!! I will update you on everything when I get the chance to. As of right now though I am just going to do a short little bit about today. Enjoy! :D

Today has been a rough one. Andrew has really tested me. Screaming and running (happy) crying (not so happy) So the four of us went outside, only to have to go right back in....

I was going to let him play to get his energy out... but for some reason we came in and did not play outside... But I held his hands, so it'd be faster, and let him take steps up to the 4th floor. (all 52 steps) He was so cute! He'd raise his leg really high before he'd step, even sometimes he skipped some steps! (I couldn't even do that if I tried! hehehe)

OH!! AND he went missing! I mean right in my own home!! I seriously turned my back for like 30 seconds and I hear "trapped" yelling/crying. I thought it was coming from the kitchen so I start looking in all of the bottom drawers... well I s...aw his little fingers try to push the cabinet (under the sink) open. It has a black trash can built in to it that comes out when you open the door... Well the door would not open because he was in the space where the trash can swings out to...Well, I stuck my hand in the small opening and got him positioned to where it'd open. And I get him and and telll him, "Thats why we don't climb in stuff we shouldn't" Couple hours later when his Daddy was home... he was at it again! But luckily not getting stuck

New Happenings

This weekend a lady is bringing her car by for us to look at. My husband wants his own time schedule again. The bus thing is not working out for him.
Today is a BEAUTIFUL DAY! And for so many reasons!  The sun shined so bright and beautiful today. I got to spend another WONDERFUL day with my son! And the rest of my husband's squadrin has returned home in safety! Brandy's husband is home now! I am so happy for her and everyone else.
While I was busy trying to clean the kitchen I found two blocks of Craft Soap, Red and Clear/White. So I melted it and poured the soup into my football ice trays. I stuck them in the freezer to get done faster. They turned out great though! And I had some extra melted soap so I poured it into my gingerbread molds and made two of those. They are so cute!

Not much has happened today, Drew has been at work since 10 and right now it is almost 8. So we will see how much longer it is before he is home.

Car Issues Solved! (Well Sort Of)

My husband came home from work today with a stack of CD cases and some books and a box at the bottom of the stack that he was carrying. And he said, "Well, I have some good news and... I have some bad news..." His voice was uplifting so I knew it couldn't be that bad. He continued, "The good news, Mario Cart is finally here." That was a Christmas gift we ordered for ourselves back in the beginning of December. "And the other good news is that the car only cost $85 to fix." Then I said, "Wow! That is some awesome news!!" Then he continued... "Bad news is, thats how much it cost to have the car impounded."
Ouch! Did I hear what I thought I just heard?! No, maybe he is kidding, hopefully he is kidding! (I look him in the face) No he is for real, no smirk on his face...
I went about just doing whatever it was I was doing, didn't really phase me much. "Oh well." I said. Then as I was updating my status on FaceBook and talking to my Mom on the phone telling her about it, it hit me! We don't have a car! I tried not to let my husband see me as I started to worry... But he could tell. "Hun, we've gone 6 months without driving here already and you were even pregnant then. We can do this."

Stranded

Yesterday my dear sweet husband was going to get his sister and her husband and child at the Frankfurt Airport, they had to buy tickets back since they were not able to catch a Space-A Military Flight back for free. Well he had been gone for about 4 hours and it was past 4:30, the time their plane was supposed to land, and I got a phone call. It was my husband. He only made it 35 Km from home before the car over heated and shut down. Luckily he was able to get to the side of the road alright. Apparently him and a friend had been trying to figure out what had been wrong with it. Drew called ADAC, it is a German road side assistance type thing, and they said it would be 45 minutes before they could make it out to him. And they said it was going to cost him 180 euro just to tow the car to the nearest town which was 2 Km away, not even a mile! And 400 euro to tow him back home, which was only like 35 Km away! Ridiculous if you ask me!
His friend was able to give him a ride home. And him and another guy that he works with were supposed to go and check up on the car today to see what all was wrong with it and see what they could do about fixing it themselves. Well the Polizei called him at work today, they must have found some sort of personal information and called him, (or looked up his liscense) and they told him the car was at the polizei station and in order to get it back we would have to pay 200 euro. So tomorrow him and a friend are going to go to the Polizei Station to see if they can fix it, and pay the 200 euro.
Yesterday as he was getting ready to leave to go and get his sister, I had this feeling to give him the cell phone to take with him. But I got side tracked some how and completely forgot to tell him! And then once he got home I told him about my prompting from earlier and he was like, "Why didn't you listen to it?!" (in a half joking way) Now I know if I feel any sort of prompting to act on it while I remember to! But I am so glad that he was not harmed in any way and returned home in safety! And today I thanked our friends for helping us out last night.
And I was able to get ahold of Drew's sister this morning. They all took a shuttle to the Ramstien Air Base and were able to get thier car and travel the rest of the way to thier home. So they made it home in safety and they were sorry about what all had happened but were glad that Drew was safe, as was I.
On a totally different note, Little Drew has been walking around on his own so much today! He has gone pretty long distances all on his own. I am so proud of him and love him so much!

Happy New Year!! 2011

                                 HAPPY NEW Year 2011!!!

We spent our New Year's Eve at SGT Becerra's house and celebrated it with people Drew works with and a few of thier friends. It was a nice turn out. This was our third year in a row going to thier New Year Party. I talked my friend Brandy into going, her husband also works in Drew's shop but is deployed right now, and she ended up having a blast! There was so much food, fun and dancing, it was GREAT!

                              The 606 GIRLS

He's A Walker!

This is the FACEBOOK post I added yesterday:

"It seems like Lil Drew only reaches new milestones only if it is the 4th! lol Today he is 10 months old, and has been walking ALOT! He will walk pushing a chair and then turn away and walk to the couch or where-ever all by himself! He has been doing really good with his balance today."

Little Drew has been taking steps here and there all throughout his 9th month of life... But at our New Year's Eve Party at the Becerra's place, SGT Becerra got him to take 3 steps all by himself! And it all started from there... When he realized he could do it then he kept trying on his own. Not until yesterday, January 4th, did he really start going longer distances! Now if has got something to pull up on, rather than crawl to where he wants, he tries to walk there. It is so cute! I love him so much!! And I am so proud of him!

It is hard to believe we only have until like mid-late November 2011 left here in Germany! Where has the time gone?!! We probably won't find out where we are going next until probably some time in the summer. Drew keeps daydreaming about us going somewhere in the States but I told him he better be careful because we have alot of other places we could go.

Happy Birthday To Me! :)

When I was a little girl I would always play "house" and pretend I was 25... well now I am... :) So this year I am going to dedicate to having FUN! Playing with my adorable son and spending time with my dog and going on amazing adventures with my husband!

We celebrated my birthday yesterday with homemade pizza that our friend Steve Merkley came over and made. We played a new Wii Game that I got for Christmas called Wii Music. There were four of us here playing it and it was pretty fun! Steve, Drew, Brandy and Me. And the day before I made an ice cream cake with confehtti cake mix with chocolate frosting and vanilla icecream with fudge swirls. It turned out pretty good!
